In Seoul's northwest, the Deogi-dong Rodeo street in Ilsan, Goyang (walkable from Tanhyeon Station),is home to The Bistro Chosuna Korean fusion fine-dining restaurant & pub that reworks fresh Korean ingredients in a modern way. As the napkin logo “Bistro Chosun — korean restaurant & pub” suggests, the appeal is less traditional Korean and more a casual-yet-careful spread reaching all the way to steak, pasta and pizza. If you're planning a Paju, Heyri or DMZ day trip near Seoul and want a proper meal around Ilsan, it's a great stop — so here's my honest first-hand review.

What is The Bistro Chosun?
The name is The Bistro Chosun, written in English as The Bistro Chosun. As for location, the Deogi-dong area of Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang (near Tanhyeon Station and the Rodeo street). People often lump it in with “Paju,” but administratively it is precisely in Ilsan, Goyang. Imjingak and the DMZ are about 25–30 km away by car, so it is not a restaurant “inside the DMZ” — rather, it's an Ilsan restaurant that's easy to fold into a Paju, Heyri or DMZ day trip, which is how to think of it.
💡 Built on Korean cuisine but stretching widely to steak, pasta, risotto, pizza and salad, this is a Korean fusion dining & pub. You can also enjoy beer, wine and traditional Korean liquor, so it suits evening gatherings and date courses too.
A calm, modern wood-toned space
As you step inside, a lighting column motifed on hanok lattice catches the eye first, set against wood-toned finishes. The ceiling is finished in a dark tone so the light focuses on the food and tables, and the generous spacing between seats makes conversation easy. It doubles as a pub, but the mood leans calm and dining-focused rather than noisy.

Tasting notes & honest review
The most memorable dish was the spicy seafood braise. Crab and other seafood arrive in a heavy bronze bowl, braised in a punchy, fiery sauce and topped with microgreens for a polished look. It keeps the heat of Korean cooking while plating it in a fine-dining tone, so the “fusion” concept comes through clearly.

Steakcame out nicely cooked to medium, served on a slate plate with thin shoestring fries and mustard-and-salt condiments. The meat's grain held up well, and the sides weren't overdone, so it was easy to enjoy.

Even a single napkin carries the “Bistro Chosun / korean restaurant & pub” logo cleanly, which gave the impression they look after branding down to the smallest detail.
