By Seoul Note

Forday Paldangis a riverside terrace cafe about 40 minutes by car from Seoul, sitting right in front of the Han River at Paldang. It stays open until 10 p.m., so you can enjoy everything from the sunset glow to the moon rising over the river and the string lights along the terrace at night. If you're looking for a Han River view cafe near Seoul, I wanted to share my honest visit.

What is Forday Paldang

It's a large cafe on the Han River in Wabu-eup, Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do. The highlight is the long outdoor terrace facing the river — sit at the white mesh tables and you get an unobstructed view of the water, the city lights across the river, and the distant mountain ridges. By day, yellow coreopsis flowers line the riverside walking path; at night, string lights and city lights reflected on the water create a romantic mood. It's pet-friendly too, so it's great for a stroll with your dog.

Atmosphere — from sunset to night view

The best thing about Forday Paldang is how the mood completely changes with the time of day. Arrive at sunset for the soft scenery of riverside coreopsis and golden light; after dark, enjoy the moon over the river and the night view created by the terrace string lights. Since it's open late, it's worth aiming for the blue hour (the blue sky just after sunset).

💡 Visit tip — If you want to catch the night view, arrive about 30 minutes before sunset so you can enjoy both the sunset and the night view in one go. Riverside terrace seats fill up on weekend evenings, so going a little early helps.

Signature menu

Forday Paldang is known for its all-day brunch (brunch you can order from morning to evening) and Hong Kong waffles. My top pick, though, is the strawberry cheesecake. Soft cheesecake topped with big strawberries and a dusting of sugar powder — it looks lovely, isn't too sweet, and pairs perfectly with the river view. Add an iced chocolate and an iced latte and you've got the perfect dessert set against the night view.

Inside the cafe

The outdoor terrace is the signature, but on cold or rainy days the indoor seating is also spacious and comfortable. Some seats have river views through the large windows, so you can still enjoy the view from inside.

My honest review

There are plenty of Han River view cafes in Seoul, but Forday Paldang stands out for how close it sits to the river with a wide-open view. The night scenery was especially impressive — city lights reflected on the water and string lights came together, and the photos turned out beautifully. By day, the riverside coreopsis and walking path make it great for family or pet outings; by night, it's a perfect date course. Drink and dessert prices are about average for a large view cafe, which feels fair given the view.

How to get there

Driving from Seoul is easiest — take Olympic-daero → Misa-daero toward Paldang, about 40 minutes. By public transport, you can reach it via the Gyeongui-Jungang Line Paldang Station or Deokso Stationand a short taxi ride. Best of all, Forday Paldang sits along the Han River drive route toward Gapyeong, Nami Island and Yangpyeong, making it a great stop on a day trip from Seoul.
