Confused About the Festival Name? Here's the Official One

Search portals and you'll see "Seoul Rose Festival", "Jung-rang Rose Festival", and "Seoul Rose Fest" all mixed together. The accurate official name is Jung-rang Seoul Rose Festival. Jung-rang district unified the name from 2024, and Jung-rang's culture & tourism channels only use this name. Old promotional materials and blog posts get mixed in search results, so things look messy — but for 2026, "Jung-rang Seoul Rose Festival" is the correct one.

2026 Schedule & Venue at a Glance

2026 is the 18th edition, and this year's theme is "Rang-rang 18 Years Old". Citizen-participation programs have expanded under the 18th anniversary concept.

5.45km Rose Tunnel — Why You Need to See It Yourself

There's just one reason this festival ranks at the top of Seoul spring festival searches every year — Scale. The rose tunnel at Jung-rang Rose Park stretches 5.45km along Jungnangcheon from Mukdong Bridge to Gyeomjae Bridge — officially the longest rose tunnel in Korea. Photos and videos absolutely cannot convey the length. Walk in and "this never ends" comes out of your mouth on its own.

These roses have grown for 20 years — planted starting in 2005 with the Jungnangcheon riverside park project, grown over 20 years. Not just a one-off festival planting but a space with years stacked deep, so the rose density and tunnel scale are on a different level from typical flower festivals. Two consecutive years of 3 million+ visitors isn't just hype.

6 Core Photo Spots — Plan Your Route Before the Lines

Walk along the rose tunnel and you'll find photo spots everywhere — we picked 6 core spots most often featured on SNS. Weekend afternoons mean 10-15 minute lines at popular spots. The answer is arriving early morning and hitting the core spots first.

1. Red Heart Sculpture (Signature Photo Spot)

Halfway through the rose tunnel you meet the red heart sculpture — the festival's signature photo spot. The composition is sitting inside the heart frame with rose clusters as backdrop. Families with kids and couples especially line up here. 10-15 minute waits are standard on weekend afternoons, but there's a brief opening when crowds move to the main stage at showtime.

2. Pink Angela Rose Wall in Front of Ihwa Bridge

Personally my favorite photo spot. Pink Angela rosesdensely bloom into a rose wall, perfect for portrait photos. It's relatively less crowded than the main festival area so you can shoot leisurely. If you come via Junghwa public parking, definitely stop by.

3. Junghwa Sports Park Rose Trails (SNS Hot Spot)

This is the rose path most famous on SNS. Located on both sides of the Junghwa Sports Park main stage. Mukdong Bridge side is pink, Gyeomjae Bridge side is orange. Pink rose path is popular shot from above on the pedestrian overpass. Weekdays allow leisurely shooting but weekends are so crowded one-way traffic gets enforced — hard to linger on the overpass.

4. Surimdae Rose Garden + Rose Cafe

On the way to Surimdae stage stretches a long rose tunnel. Many people lay out picnic blankets in the rose shade. Rose Cafeis at Surimdae Rose Garden, also in full vibrant bloom. Perfect for sitting and grabbing a drink.

5. Jung-rang Rose Park (Beneath Mukdong Bridge)

Below Surimdae Rose Garden, beneath Mukdong Bridge sits Jung-rang Rose Park. Various rose varieties are planted so colors and shapes differ — fun for photos. There's a small performance space extending under Mukdong Bridge, so sitting in the shade soaking up festival vibes works too.

6. Pedestrian Overpass #2 — Canola + Rose Photo Spot

Walking along the riverside you'll find a canola flower planted section. The combined canola + rose photo spot is near Pedestrian Overpass #2. Canola is short but blooms densely and prettily, so the yellow + pink/red combo is vivid. Don't just see roses and leave — definitely stop by the canola.

Grand Rose Festival + Jung-rang Artist Festival — Performance Schedule

This isn't a festival that ends with just flowers. Catch the performance schedule and you'll enjoy it much more fully.

  • Grand Rose Festival (May 15-17) — Held at Junghwa Sports Park main stage. Performances concentrate in the first three days.
  • Rose Parade — opening day (May 15) event announcing the festival's full kickoff.
  • Rang-rang 18 Ambassador — 18th anniversary citizen participation program.
  • Jung-rang Artist Festival (May 23) — Enjoy the closing vibe at Myeonmok Sports Park.

What to Bring On-Site (Visitor Tips)

These are tips only those who've been a few times know.

9-11 AM is the golden hour. As the sun rises and flowers start radiating warmth, the scent really spreads. Fewer people, best light too.

I really don't recommend driving in. Surrounding roads are narrow and the whole area jams during the festival. Walking from Junghwa Station Line 7 is overwhelmingly easier.

Bring sunscreen, hat, and water. Mid-May but daytime hits near 30°C. Shade inside the rose tunnel varies section by section.

Mid-zoom is the right answer for photos. Wide angle too broad and scale gets lost; telephoto compression makes the tunnel look way fuller.

Visit Schedule Recommendations by Purpose

Walking the full 5.45km is 10km+ round trip. Trying to see it all in one day burns you out. Splitting the schedule by purpose is far smarter.

Visit Purpose Recommended Date Recommended time

Closing vibe + Artists May 23 (Artist Festival) Afternoon

On-Site Scenes — Don't Miss the Fountain Show and Design Workshop Gates

Many assume it's just roses, but the Jungnangcheon riverside also has a fountain show, small design workshop gates, and small stages. Stopping by occasionally as you walk slowly makes the festival vibe much richer.

Final Checklist Before Visiting

Detailed program & performance lineup— check the official additional announcements and finalize your visit date. Updates come via Jung-rang district's official website and Jung-rang Cultural Foundation SNS.

Weather check is essential — on 30°C heat days, fully bloomed flowers fade fast. Peak bloom is most stable between mid-May and end of May.
